Syllabus

  • Theory:
    • Basic kinematics and dynamics of mechanical linkages and robot arms
    • Basic motion planning algorithms
  • Hardware:
    • Lego Mindstorms
    • Sony Aibo dog
    • Pioneer mobile robot
    • Robotic parts: sensors, motors, bracing and mobility, micro-controller
  • Software:
    • Robot programming at different levels:
      • Very high level (visually): Aibo or MindStorms
      • High level language: C++
      • Assembly level
    • Simple robot simulation: in Mathematica
  • A few Robotics Problems:
    • Motion control
    • Collision avoidance
    • Sensor input processing
  • And some very recent Robotics Applications:
    • Sensor networks
    • Robotics techniques for protein motion simulation
