I am an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Smith College.
Before coming to Smith, I was a postdoctoral fellow at the Max Planck
Institute for Mathematics in Bonn, Germany, and a Hans Rademacher
Instructor at the University of Pennsylvania.
My research is in geometric and low-dimensional topology. My
interests include curves on surfaces, knot theory and isotopy in the
presence of geometric constraints, including contact topology.
My email is pcahn at smith dot edu, and my office is Burton Hall
313. My office hours for Spring 2017 are: Monday 5-6, Tuesday 9-10, Wednesday 3-4, Thursday 5-6, and Friday 10-11.
