Homework 5, csc354, Spring 2013.
Due Monday March 11.

Note: This assignment has changed since class Wednesday.
  1. Read the Chua article.
  2. Try out the chuaPluck.pd skip distribution patch.
  3. Read sections 3.5 and 3.6 of Kreidler's chapter 3
    and
Rasmus Berlin's tutorial pd project with lots of ideas Automata and their application to composition. Includes many subpatches for brass instruments, cymbals, etc. You do not need the java component of this, which just reads midi files.

Try out the patches in these sites.
  4. Find patches that interest you, and that can take frequency input (be used as an instrument).
  5. Try out a pentatonic melody with some rhythm, with one or more of the patches from section 3.5 and 3.6 that you like.
  6. You do not need to make a composition.
  7. Include in your pure data file any `utilities' that you have created so far in this course, including separately any percussion or drum effects.
  8. Post the pure data file to the web.
  9. Make sure you have links on your html page, whether it is hwtemplate.html or index.html for anything you have done so far.
Keep your web site up-to-date. This is going well!
